We didn’t use the Breathless pool even once because the foam party and crowds of people didn’t appeal to us this trip. Some of the primo spots were taken by people who got there by sunrise, but still plenty of spots at all times. We always had a lounge chair, there were cabanas you could use also. Pool - we spent 80% of our trip here: - I loooooooved the Secrets pool. We didn’t spend too much time on it except to watch the sunrise each morning.
Beach: - Beach was nice, a step away from the pool area. We bought a bottle of Brunello and a nice Mexican wine, a Santo Tomas Duetto which went really nice with our steak dinner. We didn’t like the house wines so he always made great recommendations for us. Ramirez (Antonio) the sommelier of the resort was awesome. If you like heat, definitely get the habanero sauce on the side. Made so many great recommendations- my personal faves were the chicken enchiladas for breakfast, Baja shrimp tacos and salmon for lunch. I found the food better and our server for the week, Manuel, was just so awesome. We spent every morning and lunch at Rosewater, the restaurant on the Secrets side. Everything was good - fairly mid-range in terms of quality. There was also a pizza place on the beach which we went to a few times. We really liked that you didn’t need a reservation (except if you wanted a seat at he hibachi table). Restaurants: - We tried a few restaurants on the Breathless side: French, steakhouse and hibachi. Thanks Amber! Cleanliness: - Entire resort was very nice and clean, no complaints whatsoever. Amber was always a text away, answered any question we had during our stay, helped us get a reservation at the hibachi dinner, arranged transportation back to the airport, exchanged small bills for us when we ran out, and gave us late check out when our flight was delayed. We had butler/concierge service which was fantastic. Luis the bartender was so friendly each time we went and really took care of us. The Secrets Preferred Club bar was one of favourite places to get a cocktail before or after supper. We didn’t hear anything from our Ocean front room except at times the people below us hanging out on their balconies or swim out pool. Even at night, all of rooms were surrounding the live entertainment and events so I can only imagine that you would be able to hear it all. Breathless side seemed like one big party: lots of people, lots of activities, lots of bigger groups and younger couples.

He showed us the Secrets room, told us all about the benefits of the Secrets side, and ultimately helped us make our decision to upgrade to the Preferred Club Junior Suite Ocean Front with the jacuzzi on our balcony. Thanks to the bellman we met at check-in, Luis. We had originally booked the Xhale Junior Suite Ocean Front room, but upon arrival, we were given the option to upgrade to the Secrets side of the resort. My husband and I just came back from a New Year’s week trip to Mexico. Secrets is more private and quiet, which is what we were looking for.
